CityONE Network grew out of a unified effort in Charlotte, NC called CharlotteONE. Although Charlotte is known as the "City of Churches" and is home to more churches per capita than any city in America, the rapidly increasing population of young professionals was mostly absent from the local church. In the spring of 2006, several local young adult pastors, deeply influenced by Jesus' plea for unity in John 17:21-23, asked a revolutionary question: "Can area churches work together as ONE to reach 20-30somethings for Christ and connect them to a local faith community?"
Therefore, CharlotteONE began in May 2006 as a four-week trial among a handful of local churches to reach young professionals for Christ and connect them to local faith communities. When the doors opened for the first time, 200 young adults from different denominations and various backgrounds responded to the vision of CharlotteONE. Attendance increased every week with the last night seeing close to 400 come together as ONE to worship God and connect with local churches in the area.
Today, CharlotteONE continues to reach between 500-600 young professionals every week and serves over 40 local congregations as their young adult outreach service.
Equipped with five years of learnings and countless stories of changed lives and connections back to local churches, the leaders of CharlotteONE felt called to help facilitate and equip other local churches to have a similar outreach to 20-30somethings. PhoenixONE launched in April 2011 in Phoenix, Arizona and reaches between 600-700 young professionals each week and serves over 10 local churches.
It is the hope and prayer of CityONE Network to help facilitate unified movements of local churches in major cities across the nation to reach young adults in their 20's and 30's for Christ and the local church .
